A Grand Snow Trip

grandcanyon-017

To start our BBQ Road Trip, the BBQthDirector celebrated 34 years of earthly life (Renae, please don’t age me) in Northern Arizona!  We left the house just before 7:00 am, took one potty stop, one gas stop (as in fuel, not… nevermind), ate Fluffernutters on the road (peanut butter, marshmallow cream, nutella/strawberry jam sandwiches), and got to the Grand Canyon at about 2:30 pm (local time).  The BBQ Couple visited years ago, before the BBQ Offspring (how ’bout we call them “Lil Smokies”) were in the picture.  But that was a summer trip and this time the snow made it so much more magnificent.  Yes, the scenery was unbelievable, but it was just a blast playing in the snow.  We’ll definitely make another winter Grand Canyon trip in the coming years.  Just awesome!

Duuuuuude, it was cold! My guess it was in the mid-thirties, plus wind at certain view points.

BBQ Boys II & III take a quick pic with Bambi before we shoot her! Mmmmm, tasty! Just kidding, animal worshippers.

"Attack!"

The "Lil Smokies" with a surprise snow ball attack. The BBQthDirector: "Okay, kids on three! One... two... th--" Rebels: "Attack!"

BBQ Boy III with yet another suprise attack. This time he uses the double underhanded technique.

Farmington Missions T.E.A.M. members might remember the historic watchtower. This is where the infamous G.S.H. pic was taken. Unfortunately, the tower was closed for the day.

Isn't it amazing that the Colorado River would carve out this canyon over millions of years. The real wonder is that it would have had to run UPHILL to do it! If you don't sense my sarcasm, check back in a couple weeks for the Creationist view of the how the Grand Canyon was formed (our miracle doesn't involve the miracle of a river running uphill)!

You’re not old Jay. 🙂 Just a mere nine years older than me. I’m at least 7 years older than the oldest teen in my y.g. That’s the oldest one! I guess then it would be 13 years older than the 7th graders!!!! 🙂

I loved the pics of your fam, and the picturesque scenery! 🙂

well we tried to go to Four Corners but didn’t want to pay to get in so we took a pic outside with the sign! Remember the family that thought they were at four corners and took a pic in the same spot! 🙂 Yes we did go to Mesa Verde and had a great time! That is why I was asking which Farmington Trip it was! 🙂

PS, things get interesting around the yg when you are gone. Or maybe, when you are gone and leave the guys in charge! 😉

Having those three clowns run youthgroup… “weird” doesn’t even begin to describe the torture it was. I’m never coming back to the youthgroup because of them!!!! JUST KIDDING! I wouldn’t leave just because of those goofs. And it wasn’t that terrible… (lying)

COME BACK SOON. WE MISS YOU!
Oh by the way, according to Tommy, next Thursday is “wear your pjs to church” Thursday…haha!

Actually, all things considered, I thought they did a good job (better than I expected), but it was still funny. 🙂 Ryan trying to talk to Paul while he was leading singing….The convos between guitarists that probably no one but me noticed bc they were right in front of me…The unique “prizes” for games…The hand holding games, lol…the announcements…yeah, it was interesting, but funny 🙂
