Fave Fives XVII: Donuts

Tiger Tails at The Donut Man in Glendora, CA!

Tiger Tails at The Donut Man in Glendora, CA!

Let’s take another much-needed break from the campaign trail, shall we?  Krispy Kreme is the very best (love ’em melt-in-your-mouth greasy fresh), but I’m also fortunate to have two local legends close by: The Donut Man in Glendora and The Jelly Donut in Pomona.  Listing my favorite donuts seems to be fitting anyway since I imagine a lot of donuts are consumed during campaigns.

1. Chocolate-Iced Custard Filled: There’s a place called Daily Donuts in North Pomona that keeps that custard ice cold, then “injects” when ordered.  So, so good!

2. Tiger Tail: How can you not like a raised donut that’s twisted with devil’s food cake crumbles and cinnamon?  Wow, yummy and good looking, to boot!

3. Chocolate-Iced Buttermilk Bar: The Jelly Donut in Pomona makes the best.  They’re bigger than most and you can actually taste the tanginess of the buttermilk.

4. Chocolate-Iced Old Fashioned:  Love the unique, dense texture.

5. Apple Fritter: Mmmm, crispy on the outside, soft and apple-y on the inside!  Can’t beat ’em fresh out of the fryer, still somewhat greasy.

How ’bout you?

**If you’re just stumbling on the BarBeQuethMinistry!, you should know that it can’t be an accident.  There’s got to be a higher purpose.  I happen to be in the midst of a very exciting “Quest to be the Best Famous Fan in America” and I invite you to join the campaign.  Check it out!

This was about a week late, because National Donut Day was last Friday. Other than that your list looks pretty good.

Aw, man, how could I miss National Donut Day? Is there a National BBQ Day?

I love custard filled! Apple fritters are a close second. Chocolate Iced butter milk bar is third. A regular cake donut with chocolate icing and sprinkles is fourth. And after that I don’t really have a preference! 🙂 Good list Jay! Looking forward to seeing you later today an tomorrow at graduation!

There is no National BBQ Day, but there is a National BBQ Month and we missed that too. It is May.

Oh, of course, what am I thinking? Just a day would be a travesty! BBQ certainly deserves a whole month.

San Dimas off of Arrow and Lone Hill there is a donut place (forgot the name since it’s been off limits to me for along time) but they glaze first then dip in chocolate!! Melt in your mouth…you can eat one before you are out of the parking lot. Try it.

Is it the one in the Ralph’s center, right by Royal Panda? If so, yes! That place is great!

I know I am boring, but my favorite donuts are a plain ol’ glazed one and also powdered donuts. Yum!
