An Unconventional Thanksgiving

The Hamiltons bequeathed upon the BBQ Family LegoLand tickets so we decided Thanksgiving Day would be just as good a day as any to go!  Actually, I’d say it’s gotta be a whole lot better than “normal” days as it seemed fairly empty (judging by the parking lot being less than a third full).  I think it was mostly Euro and Asian tourists bypassing our national holiday.  After a full day at an amusement park definitely catering to younger children (the BBQ Kids had a blast, but I don’t suggest taking your teenagers to LegoLand), we drove ten minutes for an awesome Thanksgiving dinner at the Famous Dave’s in Vista (so, janet2000, we didn’t BBQ our bird, but we did have some killer BBQ)!  My BBQ Honey and I had their “Limited Time Only” items, but you’ll have to visit The FUNdamental Foodie to get the scoop on that!

We had a slow, lazy morning (aren’t those the best?) on Friday, dragging ourselves out of bed to partake in that relaxing American past-time known as Black Friday.  We were out in the mayhem for just over an hour but did manage to strike gold with a sweet digital camera.  Then we had our turkey dinner with homemade everything.  Except for the rolls, which we got from the filipino bakery Valerio’s.  Just can’t beat Pan de Sal.

How cute. I’m sure I would have loved Legoland as a kid – had it been around then – since Legos were so cool back in the day. 🙂 Just running my hands through all the Legos at the Mall of America Lego store made me smile. lol 🙂
